Event Description
NSW Approved Providers including management committees: How to deal with a protected disclosure
Presented by

Protected disclosures (or whistleblowing) in NSW . Under the Children (Education and Care Services) National Law and the PID Act, all approved providers must maintain a formal protected disclosures policy to protect reporters from detrimental action or reprisal.
But what do you do as an approved provider if you receive a protected disclosure? What are the steps you should take?
This session, designed for Approved Providers (such as service owners or committee members) will give you straightforward answers about what you need to do if you receive a protected disclosure from a staff member or somebody else connected to your service.
By the end of the session, you should be clear about:
- What a protected disclosure is
- What protections you must offer the maker of a disclosure
- Who you have to inform and when
- How to act on the information received
- How to maintain confidentiality
- What your legal obligations are
We aim to make the session simplify what can be a complex topic.
