Event Description
Supporting Social and Emotional Skills in Early Childhood Practice
Presented by

Every day in early childhood settings, educators support children as they learn to manage emotions, build relationships, and participate in learning.
At first, children rely on supportive adults to help regulate their emotions and behaviour. Over time, these experiences support the development of self-regulation, where children begin managing these skills more independently.
This webinar explores how educators play a vital role in intentionally supporting and modelling the social and emotional skills that underpin children’s wellbeing and learning.
Together we will explore:
• The difference between co-regulation and self-regulation in early childhood practice
• How regulation skills support children to communicate, build relationships, and participate in learning
• The role educators play in modelling and scaffolding emotional skills for children
• Practical strategies that support safe, responsive environments where children can practise regulation
Because when children are supported to develop these skills, they are better able to connect with others, manage challenges, and fully engage in early learning.
