Event Description
Play preferences - supporting educators to understand children's play through understanding their own
Presented by

Play is deeply personal.
The way we experience play shapes what we notice, value and respond to in children. It quietly influences our expectations, decisions and relationships throughout the day.
This webinar invites educators to pause and reflect on that influence.
Through guided reflection and an interactive play preference exercise, participants will explore their own play style and how it shapes their practice. The session also opens up a broader conversation about what counts as play, whose play is recognised and how bias can impact connection and inclusion.
Grounded in neurodiverse-affirming approaches, this session supports educators to move beyond narrow ideas of play towards more responsive, respectful practice.
What this changes for you in practice:
- how you recognise and respond to different play preferences
- how you notice and challenge your own bias
- how you make more inclusive, thoughtful decisions
- how you build stronger, more meaningful relationships with children
- how you value and support diverse ways of playing
This is a chance to reflect honestly, think differently and strengthen everyday practice in ways that foster connection, inclusion and joy.
