Event Description
Beyond Decoration: Designing Infant and Toddler Environments for Care, Challenge and Possibility
Presented by

Infant environments are never neutral. They reflect our beliefs, our expectations, and our decisions in the smallest of moments.
In this webinar, we will explore how design is not decoration, but the intentional shaping of experience. Drawing on practice, research, and reflective questions, this webinar will support educators to reconsider how materials, movement, and space influence what children can do, feel, and become.
Rather than asking what feels comfortable or predictable, we will ask: What is this environment inviting?
Participants will:
- Notice what their environments are communicating about children’s capabilities
- Reflect on where spaces may unintentionally limit exploration and agency
- Strengthen their understanding of design as an act of care and pedagogy
- Explore practical ways to create environments that invite movement, inquiry, and possibility
