Event Description
Being Attentive: Intentionality in Everyday Practice
Presented by

What does intentional teaching look like within a play-based context? And how might educators cultivate deeper attentiveness to the everyday moments that shape children’s learning and our teaching?
Drawing on the Early Years Learning Framework, this webinar explores intentionality as a thoughtful and relational practice embedded within daily interactions, environments, and teaching decisions. Rather than interrupting play, intentional teaching emerges through educators’ ability to notice children’s ideas, respond meaningfully, and extend thinking as learning unfolds.
Inspired by Robertson’s (2024) invitation to be attenti, this webinar reminds us that teaching in early childhood requires care, attentiveness, and professional judgement. Through examples from practice and pedagogical insights, we will reflect on how intentionality becomes visible in the everyday moments of early childhood education.
This webinar invites educators to explore how to:
• Recognise intentional teaching within play-based learning contexts
• Notice and respond to children’s ideas, questions, and thinking
• Extend learning through thoughtful interactions and environments
• Cultivate greater attentiveness to the everyday moments that shape teaching and learning
Because when educators remain attentive to children’s thinking, intentional teaching becomes a natural and powerful part of everyday practice.
