Event Description
Practical Tools to Calm Children, Families and Yourself
Presented by
Robyn Papworth

Big emotions, escalating behaviour, stressed parents, and educators running on empty. When nervous systems are overloaded, logic and reasoning do not work. This practical session unpacks the biology of safety through the Vagus Nerve and the fight, flight, or freeze response, in plain language that makes sense in everyday practice.
You will learn how to spot signs of overwhelm early and use simple sensory and movement based reset strategies to support regulation and co regulation. Instead of reacting to behaviour, you will understand what is driving it and respond with confidence.
Walk away with realistic tools you can use immediately to create calmer rooms, steadier interactions, and a stronger sense of safety for children, families, and yourself.
What you will walk away with
• A clear understanding of what is happening in the body during stress responses
• Practical strategies to calm dysregulated children in the moment
• Tools to support co regulation with families and colleagues
• Simple reset techniques to regulate your own nervous system during high pressure moments
