Event Description
Building a Collaborative Learning Culture in Early Childhood
Presented by
Anthony Semann

When Collaboration Is Real, Everything Changes.
What if your entire service moved with a shared rhythm?
What if decisions weren’t top‑down or isolated — but co‑constructed with children and across your team
What if your philosophy wasn’t just written on the wall, but visible in every interaction, conversation, and learning story?
A truly collaborative environment is more than teamwork. It is a culture where learning, decision‑making, and relationships are co-constructed by children and adults — grounded in shared responsibility, mutual respect, and collective meaning-making.
In this full-day, in-person professional learning session, Anthony invites educators to move beyond working alongside one another and toward building a strong, intentional culture where collaboration is visible, lived, and sustained across the whole service.
Across the day, we will explore:
- Shared Vision and Values
- Relationships Built on Trust and Respect
- Shared Power and Decision-Making
- A Culture of Professional Learning
Grounded in the Queensland Kindy Uplift priority areas, by the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Articulate and apply a shared philosophy and common pedagogical language that guides decision-making across the service.
Kindy Uplift link: Quality teaching and intentional practice; Leadership and capability building.
Identify practical strategies to build respectful, collaborative relationships with children, colleagues, and families — strengthening psychological safety and participation.
Kindy Uplift link: Strong relationships and wellbeing; Partnerships with families and communities.
Develop approaches for involving children in meaningful decision-making about learning, environments, projects, and routines.
Kindy Uplift link: Equity and inclusion; High expectations for every child.
Utilise collaborative inquiry practices (observing, theorising, reflecting) to strengthen continuous improvement and collective accountability for outcomes.
Kindy Uplift link: Using evidence to improve outcomes; Reflective practice and continuous improvement.
Ideal for:
- kindergarten teachers and educators
- educational leaders, directors, and pedagogical leaders
- teams seeking stronger consistency, shared language, and collaborative culture
A collaborative learning culture doesn’t happen by accident — it’s co-constructed.
