Event Description
Arts in Early Childhood: Inspired by Technology
Presented by
Dr Gai Lindsay

Technology can open new creative possibilities in early childhood artmaking when used with intention and care. This workshop explores how digital tools can enrich visual arts pedagogy rather than replace traditional materials. Participants will discover practical ways to use photography, stop motion animation, light tables, projectors, and simple apps to extend children’s creative processes and amplify their ideas. We will examine how technology supports documentation, inclusion, and ephemeral art experiences while offering fresh perspectives that spark wonder. Grounded in contemporary theory and the Reggio Emilia view of art as inquiry and communication, this workshop invites educators to see technology as a companion to hands on making. You will leave inspired to curate materials, design art rich environments, and use technology thoughtfully to deepen relationships, creativity, and cultural connection.
Strengthen your practice by learning to:
• Integrate digital tools that extend children’s creative thinking.
• Use technology to document learning in meaningful, authentic ways.
• Design art experiences that foster curiosity, inclusion, and cultural connection.
