Event Description
Everyday STEM Through Play
Presented by
Catherine Lee

STEM begins with children’s questions. A puddle that ripples. A tower that wobbles. A shadow that stretches and disappears. In early childhood, science, technology, engineering, and maths come alive through hands on play rather than worksheets or outcomes. This webinar explores how educators can notice these sparks of inquiry and respond with intention. Catherine will share accessible ways to invite STEM thinking through artmaking, construction, loose parts, natural materials, and simple tools such as microscopes and cameras. Together we will slow down, listen closely to children’s ideas, and extend their investigations with curiosity and care. The session also highlights how to document children’s thinking as a learning journey, capturing questions, attempts, and discoveries rather than end products. This is STEM as creative exploration, nurturing dispositions for learning, strengthening agency, and helping educators feel confident to see STEM everywhere in children’s play.
