Event Description
Understanding Neurodiversity in Early Childhood Practice
Presented by

Most educators recognise the moment when a child’s learning, communication, or behaviour doesn’t quite follow expected patterns.
You notice it. You wonder about it. And you want to respond in a thoughtful way.
Grounded in the Early Years Learning Framework, this webinar explores neurodiversity through a neuroaffirming lens. Together we unpack common presentations such as Autism, ADHD, selective mutism, intellectual disability, and the impacts of psychological trauma.
Rather than focusing on labels, together we will explore children’s diverse ways of learning, communicating, and participating in early childhood settings.
Participants will explore:
• What neurodiversity may look like in children’s play, learning, communication, and social interactions
• Developmental indicators educators may notice in everyday early learning environments
• Ways to thoughtfully observe, document, and reflect on children’s learning and development
• Approaches for respectful conversations with families that support collaboration and referral pathways
Because noticing matters. And thoughtful responses can make a profound difference to children and families.
