Event Description
Creating Sustainable Gardens with Children
Presented by
Catherine Lee

Many educators dream of garden spaces that feel vibrant yet struggle to move beyond the basics. This session slows the pace so you can notice the stories held in plants, soil, insects, and weather. Drawing on the spirit of Ann Pelo, you’ll explore simple ways to invite children into gardening that feels joyful rather than rushed. Catherine will share practical ideas for container gardens, bush tucker plants, pollinator corners, sensory paths, and seed collecting. You’ll leave seeing gardens as companions that help children build curiosity, care, and confidence.
You will:
• Nurture children’s noticing, language, and connection as they engage with local plants and creatures.
• Feel confident creating small garden experiences that honour Country and invite wonder.
• Turn everyday outdoor moments into meaningful shared learning.
