Event Description
2027 The National Educational Leader Conference - Making Impact... Power & Practice
Presented by
Anthony Semann, Aunty Louise Cave, Adam Christie, Catherine Lee, Louise Dorrat

Educational leaders shape how their teams think, hold the vision for curriculum and create the conditions where practice can grow. This full-day conference is designed to strengthen that work.
The day is built around two simple ideas. In the morning, we explore the power of five areas at the heart of educational leadership: Aboriginal knowledge, documentation, teaching, reflection and environments. This is the why. In the afternoon, we return to each area to explore the practice, looking at how these ideas translate into everyday experiences with real children, real teams and real constraints. Running through the day is the power of pause: three dedicated moments to make sense of what you have heard and begin turning ideas into action.
You will learn alongside some of the most respected voices in the sector. Aunty Louise Cave, a proud Gamilaroi woman, invites us to move beyond posters and ticking boxes towards connection with Country and Community. Adam Christie, co-editor of Redefining Planning and Assessment, brings fresh thinking on pedagogical documentation. Catherine Lee shares four decades of joyful, rights-based teaching. Louise Dorrat challenges us to rethink reflective practice, and Anthony Semann explores environments that spark thinking and belonging.
By the end of the day, participants will be able to:
-
Explain the purpose behind five key areas of educational leadership and why each matters for children's learning.
-
Turn big ideas into practical strategies they can use with their teams in everyday practice.
-
Use time for reflective pause to identify priorities and build an action plan for leading change in their service.
Leave inspired, equipped and ready to make an impact.
