Pedagogy: the ultimate superpower

This webinar is an invitation to see pedagogy not just as a framework, but as a creative, political and poetic force for real change children, families and communities APST 3: Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning Presented by David Gilkes

Description

Pedagogy is defined, in the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia v2.0, as 'the art, craft and science of educating'. When we see our role alongside the thinking, researching child as a designer (someone who I believe weaves artistry, craftspersonship, and science together), our environments become studios, laboratories, and playgrounds for innovation, growth, and curiosity. Children become active and engaged participants, co-creators, and change-makers. Learning becomes a dynamic, poetic, and transformative journey. And educators become design partners and provocateurs, empowered to make a difference, advocate, and vigorously challenge unhelpful discourses or outdated narratives. This webinar, a repeat of David's 2025 Inspire Conference presentation will highlight why pedagogy is the ultimate superpower!

Completing Pedagogy: The ultimate superpower may contribute one-hour of PD that aligns with the NESA (NSW) approved criteria and addresses:

The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers: APST 3: Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning

Early Years Learning Framework Learning Outcomes: Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners

The National Quality Standard: QA 1: Educational program and practice
