Infant and Toddler pedagogy: Why the first 1000 days matters

The first 1000 days of a child’s life and what you can do to help give them the best possible start APST 1: Know children and how they learn Presented by Jenna Close

Description

How can we ensure that our learning environments support children's holistic growth and well-being?

At no other time during the human lifespan do we observe such rapid changes as during infancy and early childhood. In a few short years, infants transform from dependent newborns to complex creatures exploring their independence, developing their identity, navigating relationships and establishing their learning pathways. These pathways can lead to optimal growth and development or set the stage for early childhood developmental, wellbeing and behavioural difficulties that persist into kindergarten and school and can stay with them for life.
