Nature deficit: Embracing the benefits of nature play in urban spaces

How to view and include urban landscapes as rich environments to engage with nature Presented by Susan Franco

Description

Children are spending less time outdoors, which can impact their well-being. How can we encourage a nature play approach when space and opportunities are limited? This webinar will discuss ways to help children develop a deep appreciation and respect for the land they walk on. Urban spaces offer rich landscapes for children to engage with nature and develop a pedagogical companionship that values sustainability, diversity, and complexity.

Completing Nature deficit: embracing the benefits of nature play in urban spaces may contribute one hour of PD that aligns with the NESA (NSW) criteria for Elective PD and addresses:

The Australian Professionals Standards for Teachers: APST 4: Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments

Early Years Learning Framework Learning Outcomes: Outcome 2: Children are connected and contribute to their world

The National Quality Standard: QA 3: Physical environment
