Description
This Community of Practice will first focus on the beautiful town of Reggio Emilia in Italy, and a community of educators and families who have a pedagogical approach and way of working with the children and community that is founded on a number of unique and impactful contemporary approaches and principles. We will discuss how this approach can be viewed through the lens of current early childhood theory, as well as the VEYLDF, the links, overlaps and inconsistencies, and how we can translate some of the Reggio Emilia principles and practices into daily practices.
We will discuss each of the Reggio Emilia principles in turn (9 principles), looking at how each can impact the learning and development opportunities for children, and how they relate to the VEYLDF principles and practices. If you have heard of Reggio Emilia, but are unsure of what exactly it is or how to start to bring some of the principles into your practice this will be the CoP for you. Looking at the VEYLDF through the Reggio Emilia lens can provide educators with a fresh and invigorating view of pedagogical approaches and opportunities, as well as a greater connection to the documentation process and use of children's agency and voice.
