Beautiful Environments – where do I start & why does it matter?

Presented by Ella de la Motte

Description

Many of us understand that beautiful environments matter in our work with young children, but for some of us we’re not sure how to share this information with others, or we’re not sure where to start.

In this session, we will discuss why beautiful environments are a key contributor to our provision of learning experiences for children. From here, we move to a starting point, particularly if you are still needing a vision of how you can create beautiful spaces. We will consider that capturing the voices, perspectives and ideas of others is part of the process of creating beautiful environments but can also create barriers (It is in the eye of the beholder after all!)

We’ll also visit the concept of flow-on effects and the benefits of creating beautiful environments.

Completing Beautiful Environments - where do I start & why does it matter? may contribute one-hour of PD that aligns with the NESA (NSW) criteria for Elective PD and addresses:

The Australian Professionals Standards for Teachers: APST 4: Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments

Early Years Learning Framework Learning Outcomes: Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing

The National Quality Standard: QA 3: Physical environment
